Threat of Dawn Attack
ʿUmar ibn Saʿd declared that if Ḥusayn (A.S.) did not submit that night, battle would begin at dawn.
A Request for One Night
“Grant us one night, so we may pray, recite Qur’an, and seek forgiveness.”
This was not delay—it was preparation to meet Allah.
The Night of Worship
- Men, women, and children prayed
- Qur’an echoed through the tents
- Duʿā and dhikr filled the air
al-Ḥurr’s Repentance
Overwhelmed with guilt, al-Ḥurr rode into Ḥusayn’s camp, weeping.
“Will you forgive me?”
Ḥusayn embraced him:
“You are free—in this world and the next.”
Lady Zaynab (A.S.)
She comforted the children and prepared the women to become guardians of the message after the massacre.
Reflection
Before dawn breaks, every soul must choose a side.
