Prophecies about Gaza and ʿAsqalān: Glad Tidings for the Patient in the End Times

Prophecies about the Massacre of Gaza as Foretold by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

Many of us do not know — or have been kept unaware — of the prophecies concerning the “Massacre of Gaza,” described as one of the signs of the end times. These are aḥādīth narrated by many, some of which have been authenticated by al-Albānī, from our Prophet ﷺ.

We mention the most important of them here so that the people of Gaza — and the world — know that the patient among them are promised the Gardens of Allah.

Important Note

Until the year 1947, Gaza was considered part of Greater ʿAsqalān.

Imām al-Shāfiʿī (رحمه الله) would sometimes say, “I am from Gaza,” and sometimes say, “I am from ʿAsqalān.”

First Ḥadīth

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“ʿAsqalān is one of the two brides. From it will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment seventy thousand people without reckoning, and from it fifty thousand martyrs, delegations to Allah. Within it are the ranks of martyrs, their heads in their hands, their jugular veins gushing blood, saying: ‘Our Lord, grant us what You promised us through Your Messengers. Indeed, You do not break the promise.’

Allah will say: ‘My servants have spoken the truth. Wash them in the River of White.’

So they will emerge pure and radiant white, then roam freely in Paradise wherever they wish.”

Second Ḥadīth

Narrated by al-Dāraqutnī in his Mukharraj ʿala al-Ṣaḥīḥayn from Ibn ʿUmar (رضي الله عنهما):

The Prophet ﷺ prayed over a graveyard. He was asked: “O Messenger of Allah, which graveyard is this?”

He replied:

“A graveyard in enemy territory, called ʿAsqalān. People from my ummah will conquer it. From it, Allah will resurrect seventy thousand martyrs. A man among them will intercede for people equal in number to (the tribes of) Rabīʿah and Muḍar. And every bride has her bridegroom, and the bride of Paradise is ʿAsqalān.”

Third Ḥadīth

Narrated by Saʿīd ibn Manṣūr in his Sunan from Abū al-Naḍr that ʿAwf ibn Mālik (رضي الله عنه) came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said:

“O Messenger of Allah, advise me.”

He ﷺ said: “Stick to Jabal al-Khamr.”

He asked: “And what is Jabal al-Khamr?”

He replied: “It is the Land of Gathering (for Judgment Day).”

Another Report (ʿAṭāʾ al-Khurasānī)

From ʿAṭāʾ al-Khurasānī:

“It reached me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘May Allah have mercy on the people of that graveyard’ — and he said this three times. He was asked about it and replied: ‘It is a graveyard that will be in ʿAsqalān.’”

For this reason, the Tābiʿī ʿAṭāʾ ibn Abī Muslim — the jurist, mufassir, and mujahid, and one of the narrators of ḥadīth — would station himself in Gaza and ʿAsqalān for forty days every year, until he died in Jerusalem.

Connection to the End Times

The Great Victory in the end times will be tied to two great matters:

  1. The emergence of two parallel camps — the camp of faith and the camp of hypocrisy.
  2. The Great Betrayal — widespread treachery and conspiracy.

Were it not for the magnitude of hypocrisy, hatred, betrayal, and plots we now witness, we would not be certain that victory is near — nearer than the jugular vein. But now, it is as clear as the sun in the sky.

So remain steadfast, O people, for these are decisive, revealing, and fateful days.

Supplication for Gaza

Glad tidings to you, O people of Gaza.

May Allah shelter you, grant you victory, make firm your feet, strengthen your hearts, heal your wounds, guide your aim, raise your banner — the banner of truth and faith — relieve your suffering, accept your martyrs, strengthen your weak, and aid you with victory from Himself.

Spread the good news — do not keep it to yourself — so that the people of Gaza may know the immense reward of their patience and steadfastness, and the truthfulness of their Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
